The Basics
What is direct primary care?
Direct primary care is a simpler way to work with your doctor. Instead of billing insurance for every visit, you pay a straightforward membership and get unhurried, personal care. No copays at the door, longer appointments, and a physician who actually knows you.
How does membership work?
You join with a flat, recurring membership that covers your primary care. It’s month to month, easy to start, and there are no surprise bills for the services included. See the Membership page for current plans and pricing.
What is included in my membership?
Your membership covers routine and sick visits, preventive care, chronic condition management, and direct access to your physician. Many labs, procedures, and messaging are included too. If you’re weighing plans, the Membership page lists exactly what each one covers.
Who is direct primary care best for?
Anyone who wants a real relationship with their doctor. It’s a great fit for busy families, people managing ongoing conditions, and anyone tired of rushed visits and waiting rooms. Whether you carry insurance or not, DPC works alongside your life.
Insurance & Cost
Do I still need insurance? What about Medicare?
DPC replaces the primary care your insurance covers, not your insurance itself. We recommend keeping coverage for specialists, hospital stays, emergencies and anything not covered by our services. If you have Medicare, you can still be a member; we simply don’t bill Medicare for your primary care.
Can I use my HSA to pay?
HSA and FSA eligibility can vary by plan and by the type of service. Many members use these accounts for care-related costs, but rules change, so we suggest checking with your plan administrator or tax advisor to confirm what applies to you.
How much does it cost?
Pricing is a flat monthly membership with no hidden fees. Because plans differ for individuals and families, the current rates live on our Membership page, where you can see exactly what’s included before you decide.
Getting Care
How do appointments work?
Booking is easy and visits are unhurried. You get real time with your physician, without the packed schedules of a traditional office. Reach out by phone, message, or online and we’ll find a time that works for you.
Can I get same-day or next-day care?
Yes. When you’re not feeling well, waiting weeks isn’t an option. Members typically get same-day or next-day appointments so you’re seen when it matters, by a doctor who already knows your history.
Do you offer telehealth and home visits?
Yes. Many concerns are handled by phone or video, so you can be seen from home or work. When it’s clinically appropriate, we can also arrange a home visit, meeting you where care makes the most sense.
What about labs and prescriptions?
We order labs when you need them and often at member-friendly pricing. Prescriptions are managed directly by your physician and sent to your pharmacy, with wholesale medication options available in many cases.
What about specialists and hospital care?
We coordinate referrals and stay in your corner when you need a specialist or hospital care. Those services are billed through your insurance, and your physician helps guide you through the process so you’re never navigating it alone.
Can I reach my doctor after hours?
Yes. Members can message or call for urgent needs outside normal hours. It’s one of the biggest differences of DPC, direct access to a physician who knows you, when you actually need it. That being said, there are limitations and these can be discussed during your initial meeting. True emergencies will need to go to the emergency room.
What if I need to cancel?
Membership is flexible. There are no long-term contracts, and you can cancel with simple advance notice. We want you to stay because the care is worth it, not because you’re locked in. Membership is on a month to month basis.
